Sunderland Connect Network is led by a dedicated and friendly group of Christians using their skills to support Sunderland.

Deb Fozzard

Founder and Director of Connect Network

Deb's superpower is organisation. She loves bringing order and structure to things. From connecting churches to coordinating collections, she can always create order from chaos. She enjoys meeting people in the community and making connections that lead to collaboration.

Deb spent 27 years in payroll and finance until she followed her passion to work with those who are vulnerable by supporting them to rebuild their lives through accessing housing, education and support from life controlling issues.

Deb has spent many years looking at ways the Church has been involved in lives both inside and outside of the church building, by working alongside organisations already working in the community. Her desire is to see the church more integrated into the community and seen in a positive light.

Helen Stevenson

Helen is a Church Related Community Work Minister with the United Reformed Church.

Her current post is with the Sunderland and Boldon Partnership and Northern Synod of the URC.

She is passionate about her kids, nurturing her own and others spiritual life and well being, the transforming nature of God's love for all people, creating opportunities and making the best of situations by bringing people together to achieve more than can ever be achieved alone.

Phil Dobson

Phil works as the Project Director for Christian charity Oasis Aquila Housing.

Along with his wife, Sam, he leads the Junction 42 Sunderland Connect group which is building a community of ex-offenders, homeless and non-church people who are journeying with Jesus.

He is passionate about the demonstration of God’s grace and unity across churches.  He’s also a mad keen season ticket holder at Sunderland.

Emma Barker

Emma’s day job is working as a Regional Coordinator for Christian Aid in the North East.

As well as being part of the Steering team, Emma also coordinates the

Network's main events with Deb, such as 'Believe in Sunderland' and 'Ha’way in a Manger'.

Emma’s passion is for people to work together so that "the church" is seen as a good and positive part of communities, bringing hope in our times, and for people to know the transforming power God can have in their lives.

David Glover

David is Rector of Holy Trinity, Washington in the Diocese of Durham and the Area Dean of Chester le Street.

He has served most of his ministry in the North East of England and has been in Washington for the last 12 years and is deeply committed to the needs and concerns of the people of the North East.

David’s passion is that the Church should be, for people, a place of healing and transformation and should live out in society the call of Jesus to serve and to bless.

He is so excited by Sunderland Connect’s desire to encourage churches and other agencies to work together for the good of all.

Paul Barker

Paul is Curate at St Chad's Church, East Herrington and Treasurer to Connect Network.
