About the Event
Mission brings us into contact with those struggling with serious mental health difficulties, addiction, and the effects of trauma. It can be difficult to know how to love these people well. Join us at the second of six 'Faith in Mind' workshops which will educate, inspire, and equip you. Delve into the workings of the human mind, explore how psychology and neuroscience can help us understand God’s amazing creation – human beings – more deeply.
The theme of the workshop this month will be trauma, and we will be exploring:
- What is trauma
- The impact on our brain and nervous system
- Different types of traumas
- Different trauma responses - How trauma can lead to a range of behaviours and challenges
- How to be trauma-aware in your work and ministry
- How to support those experiencing trauma
- Vicarious trauma - how a lot of interaction with those who are traumatised can itself be traumatising, and how to protect yourself.
